Du sang sur scène : Le théâtre « criminel » en Espagne (1912-1918)
Résumé
“Criminal” theater was very successful in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century, in particular thanks
to companies such as that of Enrique Rambal, a grandiose group whose entire repertoire was made of
crime plays. This can lead to wonder about the reasons for this trend and to question what was at stake in
“criminal theater” at the end of the Restoration. Beyond its entertaining power, “criminal” theater was, in
fact, a spectacle where the Spanish society could project and watch itself, stage its fears and
contradictions in order to overcome them better.
